Hi everyone!
After spending my greatest time of the year at home with my family during Christmas, I moved to Australia. This year I decided to play in Brisbane instead of Doha. It was very tough over there because, as you all may remember, there was a big flood in Queensland, we had lot of rain during the whole week. It was very good that the tournament organisers provided 3 indoor courts which made it possible to finish the tournament. 3 days after the tournament was over, the center court and all facilities were under water (see photo). At that time we were already in Sydney where I played in the qualifying round and lost in the final round. But luckily, I got into the main draw as a lucky loser (Marcos Baghdatis pulled out). I received a first-round bye, but unfortunately lost in the second round to Potito. On Friday, I moved to Melbourne to have a couple of days to prepare for the Australian Open. My first-round match was played on Show Court 2 and I faced Sam Querrey. First of all, I'd like to thank all the fans for supporting me and pushing me till the end. I'm really really grateful!
You may have seen me doing a little dance after that victory. I had promised my team members (Jan Stoces and Ivan Machytka) I would do that if I won. In the second round, I was beaten by Stakhovsky, who was a much better player that day. That's life.
More soon...
Take care!
Lukasz
