Hi guys!
Hope you're having a grand time! Where were we? Ah, yes. After the Aussie Open I spent some time with my friends, Tomek, Maciek and Aga. They took me fishing and I was lucky to catch a baby shark. Very exciting!
A few days later, I started the South American Golden Swing in Santiago, Chile. The tournament was held at a different venue than last year and at a pretty high altitude. It was tough to control the balls. I lost to Fognini in the opening round and reached the final in doubles.
After that, we moved to Costa do Sauipe. We landed in Salvador which was one hour drive from the venue. I was very positively-minded because I finished runner-up last year. In the first round, I saved a match point to win a three-setter against Eduardo Schwank. On the same day, we lost in doubles. The next day I faced another Argentinian J. I. Chela and lost in three sets despite being a set and a break up. Then I went to BA to get ready for the next tournament. We decided not to play doubles. Unfortunately, I lost in the first round to Pablo Cuevas.
The last tournament of the Golden Swing series was in Acapulco. This is one of my favourite tournaments. I arrived there a couple of days before and had plenty of time to get used to weather conditions - hot and humid. I played three singles matches and lost in the quarter-finals to Bellucci. In dobles, we also lost in the quarter-finals. The ATP guys told us that it might me dangerous there and we shouldn't leave the hotel and the tournament site, but nothing happened to any of us. All the time in South America I was working with Mr Martin Fassati.
I was in Boca Raton, Florida, for a week practising at the USTA Center/Chris Evert Academy to get ready for hardcourt tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami. Jan Stoces and En Yeh (fitness coach) were helping me. Now I'm at Indian Wells...
Keep your fingers crossed!
Lukasz
