Lukasz beat American qualifier Jesse Levine 7-6(2), 6-4 at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships Wednesday to begin his campaign in Memphis. It was the pair’s second meeting – Lukasz won the only previous matchup in straight sets.

Lukasz was made to work hard for a spot in the second round. Levine broke his serve in the 11th game of the first set, but was immediately broken back. In the tie-break it was Lukasz who was in charge. He took five straight points to win 7-2.

In the second set Lukasz grabbed a decisive break in the seventh game and maintained that advantage till the end.

He goes on to play either Benneteau or Petzschner for a place in the quarterfinals.
