14.06.2012 Lukasz Loses in Singles, Wins in Doubles

Lukasz lost today's second-round match at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany. He was beaten by defending champion and No. 8 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, 6-7(5) 6-1, 6-3. The match lasted two hours and 4 minutes.

The first set was a tight affair with neither player dropping serve, though the German wasted two break points at 5-5. In the tie-break Lukasz stamped his authority, holding nerve and taking the last two points to win 7-5.

Kohlschreiber took the initiative right from the start of the second set. "I was happier then and the early break to make it 2-0 did me good," he said. Lukasz began making many volley mistakes and couldn't do a lot to stop the German from advancing to the quarter-finals.

In the doubles draw, however, Lukasz and Russia's Mikhail Youzhny beat a duo of Raonic/Shamasdin to reach the semi-finals. For a place in the final, they will face Qureshi and Rojer.
